Malaysia is one of the countries in Asia that perhaps is a little underrated. It may or may not be on your bucket list, but there is definitely more to this place that meets the eye. The capital city, Kuala Lumpur is definitely a rising hotspot for people to visit - with so much to see and do here it is understandable why. It has a modern skyline, amazing art and fabulous eateries. However, there are so many other things you can do in Malaysia. I wanted to share with you some of the best things to do, and maybe inspire you to consider adding Malaysia to your bucket list.
Take in some of nature's wonders
It comes as no surprise that traveling to a destination like Malaysia, you are going to witness things that you wouldn’t ordinarily see everyday. Nature is a wonderful thing, and to be privileged enough to take on a 3 day Sandakan tour which will have you seeing turtles makes for a monumental journey. You could head into the rainforest on islands like Borneo, where you might be able to see orangutans in their natural habitat, or some of the other delights that a rainforest can offer. There is so much to see and do in these faraway places, so you really must explore with an open mind and heart.
Climb a mountain
Maybe you like to take on a challenge while you are away on holiday and places like Malaysia really do have some spectacular places to see and things to really challenge the body. You might want to take on a big trek or climb a mountain even. Mount Kinabalu has expeditions that you can get involved in that could be the perfect challenge for your mind and body.
Take in the architecture
The capital city of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia has a glittering skyline, but one huge part of the architecture of the city is the Petronas Twin Towers. They have been declared as the tallest buildings in the world. Not only are they a home to offices and businesses, but it also boats a 50 acre park and a shopping complex that really will have you reaching for your wallet and shopping until your feet hurt.
Take in some of the history
If history is your thing, then there are some locations in Malaysia that will have you transfixed in wonder. The Melaka, a Historic City was one of Malaysia most sought-after destinations before the capital was transformed - there are some great historic sites here. You may also want to take a visit to Georgetown another Historic city as well. Penang, where Georgetown is, happens to be one of Malaysia's most visited destinations for tourists. There are some well-preserved heritage buildings, if you are keen on architecture then this is the place for you.
Finally, you could always head to Malaysia for its beaches - with beautiful islands to choose from you will be spoiled with choices of glorious white sands and crystal blue oceans. Let’s hope this has made you consider adding Malaysia to your bucket list.
