Italy is filled with beautiful cities and villages just waiting to be explored - Venice to Bologna and all the way to Naples, there is always something new to be discovered in these exquisite locations. Italy is popular with tourists for many reasons, and it’s not just because they have some of the most amazing pizza we have ever tasted. Here are some of the most beautiful locations in Italy that hold some stunning secrets.

Tuscany

Tuscany perhaps is one of the most popular tourist regions of Italy - holds many wonders for everybody to experience. The leaning tower of Pisa is possibly one of the most famous tourist attractions throughout the whole of Italy and is one of the many reasons people visit Tuscany every year. This is closely followed by the Florence Cathedral, with its iconic red dome, we think it is one of the most beautiful buildings to have ever stood. However, these popular tourist spots are not the only reason you should visit Tuscany.

Tuscany has some beautiful places to walk or hike which for reasons we do not quite understand is a far less common selling point for people visiting Italy. Lose yourself in the beauty of the Alpi Apuane and discover its spectacular marble quarries. With over three hundred species of birds, there is always going to be some gorgeous wildlife for you to marvel at here.

Rome

Rome. The capital of Italy and possibly the most popular destination for tourists on their holiday. Other than the obvious attractions here, Rome holds some of the more unusual and yet wonderful places that you can visit. For example, you might want to take a trip down to the Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta. Here you will find a large door and we aren’t going to ruin it for you - if you look through this keyhole there is a beautiful view on the other side.

While you’re in Rome, why not head over to Vatican City? While this is a small place it should not be counted out when it comes to things to see. If you want to fully make the most of your time here you can get Vatican tour tickets. Having these will ensure that you have someone who knows the area well to show you all the beautiful sites of the Vatican which means you can be sure that you won’t miss anything.

Naples

Quite low down on the tourist radar is Naples, though this shouldn’t put you off coming here as there are certainly some beautiful sites to see. The stunning Castello Aragonese di Baia is one of the most enchanting castles we’ve ever had the pleasure to see. Even if you only ever get to see it from the outside, it’s still one of the most beautiful sites in Naples.

Alternatively, you can go to Lago D’averno, arguably one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Southern Italy. This tranquil oasis is great for those who want to go for a walk or simply just as a place to relax and take in the beauty of Naples.

We hope that these beautiful alternatives to the main tourist attractions help you to discover something new next time you are in Italy.
